Thank you Point U! Boosters for raising $5,420 through this year’s membership drive, which went directly to the Gophers Volleyball operating fund. At the November 27 match against Wisconsin, Point U! Boosters President Katie Harms presented Senior Associate Athletic Director Beth Goetz with a check to the Golden Gopher Fund. Point U! Boosters Vice President Hamlin Sjoberg and Goldy Gopher were also on hand. Thank you for supporting our remarkable student-athletes!

A look at the Illini
The Illini have had their backs against the wall since the first week of the conference season. After playing possibly the toughest non-conference schedule in the nation, and needing at least a .500 record in order to qualify for the NCAA tournament, the Illini entered the tough B1G 10 conference two games below that mark. They weren’t able to put together two wins in a week until 11/6 – 11/9 when they beat both Michigan and Michigan State. Then they had a six match winning streak until that was broken by Penn State this past weekend. Now qualified for the tournament (at 15-13 they can finish no worse than 15-15), the Illini look to impress the tournament committee with a strong finish and gain a seed in the tournament. A win over Northwestern on Wednesday and Minnesota to finish 8-1 to finish the regular season could possibly do that. [Read more...]
